AdvanceCare is committed to working alongside The Department of Children’s Services (DCS) to serve children and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), as well as those who are medically fragile. AdvanceCare will match each child/youth with their foster families based upon the level of need and compatibility of each individual. We strive to create matches that will lead to long-term relationships. Our foster care program offers a specialized approach as we operate from a family-based model.

Our families are trained in medication administration, CPR, First Aid as well as annual training in order to be in compliance with the standards outlined by DCS and AdvanceCare. Training is mandatory to ensure the best trauma informed care is provided for each individual. AdvanceCare understands that children do best when they are home with their birth families. However, we are available to care for them while the team works with their families to build their strengths in order to lead them to success.

Our foster families are prepared to provide each child/youth with opportunities to take part in activities as a family as well as in the community. Some of these opportunities include;

  • Safe family living
  • Appropriate socialization at home and in the community
  • Improving independence and confidence
  • Learning new skills while at home and in the community.
  • Being comfortable in group settings
  • Discovering new interests and hobbies while attending school

In accordance with the DCS Family before Permanency Plan, AdvanceCare helps children achieve permanency through unification, adoption or continued care. The administrative staff at AdvanceCare will work closely with the case managers to assist each child or youth with enrolling in the adult waivers such as; ECF, DIDD and CLS, as they age out of the foster care program. AdvanceCare will provide ongoing support through family based services, utilizing a specialized foster care program. Our agency directly aligns with The Department of Children Services to ensure every child placed in our care is on the road to a forever family in the event they are not able to return to the home of their biological family. We are committed to provide around the clock care to children who are placed with our agency in a nurturing trauma free environment.
